Chhayanath National Park is home to rare and iconic wildlife species, including snow leopards, blue sheep, musk deer, wild yak, kiang, and Himalayan tahr. It also protects Nepal’s national bird, the Himalayan Monal (Danphe). The region is deeply influenced by Tibetan Buddhist and Bon cultures, reflected in monasteries, chortens, and prayer flags that seamlessly blend spirituality with nature. The park’s diverse habitats include alpine meadows, coniferous forests, and areas rich in medicinal plants such as Yarsagumba (Cordyceps sinensis), Jatamansi, and Kutki. Bird species such as the Kalij Pheasant, Himalayan Monal, and several migratory birds are also found here.
