We would like to share an important update regarding Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Starting November 8, TIA will be closing daily for 10 hours as part of its runway and infrastructure upgrade. The airport will undergo a major overhaul over the next five months, until March 31, 2025. Although we understand this may cause inconvenience to travelers, the upgrade has been long overdue. This closure is part of an extensive maintenance and expansion project aimed at runway expansion, taxiway upgrades, and improvements to parking areas. These upgrades are essential to enhance TIA’s capacity and safety, ensuring better services for all travelers in the future.
Most airlines have begun reassigning flights and adjusting arrival and departure schedules, reaching out to guests with affected itineraries. All late-night and early-morning flights arriving in and departing from Kathmandu will be significantly impacted. Despite these changes, tourist accommodations and sightseeing activities will remain unaffected. Ground transportation continues to operate normally, ensuring smooth travel between destinations. Both international and domestic flights during daytime hours will proceed as scheduled.
