Overview

The river has carved truly impressive ravines in its lower part as it slices through the 2000-meter-high Mahavarat Range. Unfortunately, these ravines also serve as the route for the main Prithivi Highway, and the noise and presence of road diesel trucks undoubtedly detract from the natural beauty of the river. On the opposite side of the road, however, the landscape remains relatively wild, providing opportunities to encounter wildlife, including a profusion of colorful birds such as eagles and vultures.

For many, this river represents the ideal compromise for a rafting trip, offering the right length of time, exhilarating rapids, and accessibility from Kathmandu. Certainly, if you are seeking more of a ‘wilderness’ experience, characterized by unsullied beaches, the absence of other rafting groups, and unspoiled scenery, you may want to consider one of the other rivers.

The rapids on the Trisuli are predominantly big, bouncy, and relatively safe, with ‘flips’ (where the raft capsizes) or other accidents being rare in normal water conditions. If desired, it is possible to walk around the few difficult rapids. As the highway closely follows the river, returning to Kathmandu is easily achievable within a few hours after completing the trip.

We offer trips ranging from 1 to 3 days, starting at Baireni and concluding at or before Narayanghat. This provides a full and satisfying experience, allowing you to navigate all the major rapids, witness the river’s growth as its tributaries join, marvel at its passage through impressive gorges, and leave it as it spreads out over the vast plain of the Ganges.

Soon after delicious breakfast at the hotel in Kathmandu, you will be driven for 3-4 hrs to the raft put-in point at Charaundi. Under the guidance of a river guide, you venture into a river trip up to Kurintar for about 4 hours with a short lunch break. Eventually, you camp near the river bank at a superb location.

Day 2

On this day, you resume your rafting trip along Trishuli River till you arrive at Simalar. After reaching Simaltar, you conclude your river trip and make camping arrangement for overnight stay.
