Update on Current Situation in Nepal – 30 Sep 2024

To Our Valued Travel Partners,

We hope this mail finds you well.

We would like to update you on the current situation in Nepal following the heavy rainfall that began on the night of Thursday, September 26. Over the past three days, the country has experienced severe floods and landslides, causing significant disruptions to road networks, with at least 60 affected locations.

The Nepal Tourism Board, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MOCTCA), the National Disaster Risk Reduction Authority (NDRRA) under the Ministry of Home (MOH), local governments, local administrations, tourism associations, and the private sector, has been working tirelessly to gather and share information regarding the status of tourism destinations impacted by the crisis.

As of now, all major tourist areas have fully operational accommodation facilities. Transportation and sightseeing activities are also continuing, though road connectivity between certain destinations is temporarily blocked and is expected to resume in few days.

All international flights are operating normally, and domestic flights have resumed. The weather has improved, with rainfall now limited to scattered areas. Rescue efforts are ongoing, particularly in the Annapurna, Sagarmatha, Langtang, and Manaslu regions, as well as other hilly areas. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, along with concerned agencies, is actively clearing roadblocks on major highways, including Prithvi, B.P., and Tribhuwan.

For your easy reference, attached herewith below is about the current situation as per Nepal Tourism Board.

This is only for your information. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and update you all once we have received further details on the same.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
